This page will be used to let people know what the most current needs of the orphanage in Tuka, Bali are. Thank you VERY much to the people who have made recent trips to the orphanage during their vacations. The items and donations you gave so generously are very much appreciated. We will update this page every Friday or as needs arise. If you have questions about other items to bring etc.- please use this page here and Dewa or Charlie will get back to you usually within 3 days.

August 18th, 2010 -Update
A couple of cameras have been donated now so Dewa is back in business posting photos on the facebook page. Thank you so much!
For now – any clothes – (slightly used or new) would be appreciated. If there is ever any “excess” clothes, then they are either taken to the children at The Maria Goretti Orphanage in West Bali or to some of the small remote villages that the Sisters and children visit on a regular basis.
Shoes are taken care of as of July. Each child now has at least 2 pairs of shoes and they are feeling rather “rich” because of it. Thank you so much to each of you that brought shoes recently.

My mum and I are planning to donate to your orphanage when we are in Bali next month. We have some children’s clothes and shoes and a laptop we would like to donate. Are you still in need of these things? Is there anything else that you need? We will be collecting things from our friends and family before we leave.

I am coming to Bali in November 2010 and was planning on bringing some baby clothes, I have sizes from newborn to 12 months. Will be these be of use to Putri? Will you also be able to use the smaller ones? if not do you know of any other organizations that may need them?

Charlie, I think the camera need has been met, I donated my old digital one a couple of weeks ago on my first visit to the orphanage.
I also donated my old digital pentax camera when I visited the orphanage on 9 July, so hopefully the need for a camera has been resolved. Best Regards Jane

Hi I’m coming in Sept 2010, was wondering if u can take my daughter’s hand me downs clothings, shoes, toys, etc. But the items are for 1 year old to 2 year old, is it ok, not too sure what age group the kids are? I will ask my friends to contribute as well. Also can someone come by the hotel to collect the items in Sanur? I can’t bear to come over to see the children, I’be in tears~

The clothes from your daughter will be put to great use. Putri is almost a year old now so your timing is perfect. We are not set up to pick up anything – but would encourage you to visit as nearly every visitor we have say it was the best part of their vacation. (it’s a very happy place here) Let us know closer to your trip and we can set up a time for you.

I have a digital camera. Do you still need one? Mine is a minolta 5 mega pixels 12 x optical zoom. I have the charger, but will have to buy a memory card if you are still in need.
Do you still need a laptop? I will see what i can do.
I can post the camera, or my father will be in bali in 2 weeks, he might be able to drop it off.

Wow! Your offer is very generous. We do not have a camera or a laptop yet for Dewa. He has been using a borrowed camera and laptop to post here on this website as well as the facebook page. Either or both of these items would be wonderful. It would be great if your father can drop them off – or if that is not possible, I am sure Dewa can meet him at his hotel or another place that is convenient. There will be 5 of us arriving on 28th April 2010, Sanur for our first 5 nights before heading to Lombok. I would like to unload all our items we have for the orphanage before we go to Lombok. We have school items, clothes, back packs, shoes, books etc; What would be the best day to visit the orphanage from the 29th April – 1 May? I look forward to hearing from you and visiting later this month.

My son is 6 and my daughter is 10, do you need clothes that I have from them, they are in good condition! Do you need school supplies? We are really looking forward to coming over. In regards to donating money or bringing items, it is up to whatever you are comfortable with. Many times it is very fun for people to bring items as they get to see the looks on the kids face when they are trying things on etc. But if you’d like to donate the funds to buy the shoes, then just mention it when giving directly to the Sisters at the orphanage or through the Paypal “donate” button on this site. You can be sure that it will go to whatever you designate it for. Thanks you so much for helping. As simple as shoes are, they are a great confidence/esteem builder for the children. – charlie
Hi everyone, we hope to visit the Orphanage on the 9th or 10th March. We have had a great time collecting items from family and friends and have bought the following items for the kids, tooth brushes, tooth paste, pencils, exercise books, small toys, basketballs, we have 2 x size 38 white sneakers, 1 x size 33 black sneakers, 2 x size 34 black sneakers, 2 x size 36 sneakers, and 3 pairs of girls pink shoes in small sizes and socks . A mix of whatever you like would be great. I think that the Sisters just asked for 10 as this would allow some of the children to share. (I see that they just requested 20pcs on the facebook page) I will find out for sure and get back to you again. 2 weeks till Bali for you!!! =)

thanks for getting back to me put me down for the 10 back packs they need – is there a colour choice – boys or girls – and age or does it matter don’t want to get pink for the boys (ha ha).i should get them in bali shouldn’t i as it will be cheaper and less baggage to carry. x janice

I have already heard back from the Sisters. They said of course you are welcome anytime. Sunday mornings are a great time to go. As for what else to bring – they still need 10 child’s backpacks. You will enjoy the Safari Park. We went there with our oldest son when he was one yr old. Make sure you bring batteries from home if your camera needs them. (the ones in Bali only last a few hours at best.) Thanks for your help! -charlie

I just now found your message and am hoping this did not discourage you too much. Childrens books in English are perfect for their English lessons and other than that – shoes are needed as of today.
